Bach, Cantata 140, 4th Movement

This melody has been in my mind for years. I even made a midi version from my memory to remind myself at the beginning of this year. Finally when I decide to write a letter to my Music 100 teacher back in Mesa, only finding out she is not teaching there anymore. After a little googling, I found her name listed on San Diego Music Teachers Association of California, and the site kindly provides a page to mail instructors using the form provided. I mailed her along with a link to the midi/mp3 I made to ask her for the name of the song, but with no faith that the mail would be delivered to her inbox. Guess what, I got a reply! She was able to tell which song it was from the poor melody I put together.
That’s the tenor chorale from JS Bach’s Cantata #140 “Wachet Auf”. It really s beautiful.
Again, google has guided me to this page: Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, where I find exactly what I was looking for, for years. The audio is performed by MIT Concert Choir (Cutter) and under Creative Common Attribution ShareAlike 1.0 License. I converted the ogg file into mp3 and here it is:
I just love it.

The download is right there. I love this tune on the organ but since most websites are blocked when I’m at my computer at school I use Wikipedia as a music source. Its great.
