UCSD – Getting Started

This is 23 minutes past my first official day in UCSD. So how does it go? Well, not bad.

The BENG (Bioengineering) 110, 8AM – 9:20AM, wasn’t as scary as the textbook looks like. The goal is clear, we’re learning a new language. Since we’re learning a new language, of course the middle of the book is suppose to look scary without the knowledge prior to that. Knowing that is true, PLUS that we will be graded 40% on the homework, it just relaxed me a little.

The BILD (Biology) 2, the second class of the general biology, seems pretty scary though. The most scaring part is the distance between this class and the next class. This class is held in York, and guess where the next one is? Warren Lecture Hall. Isn’t that just great? How long do I have to go between? 10 minutes. Anyway, the textbook reading should be not as bad as Mr. Ball’s version. However the grading…. 2 midterms, 25% each, 1 final, 50%. Very typical university lower division course.

Lastly, the CHEM140A, Organic Chemistry. It’s the chemistry of carbon and life. Also, it’s a very long walking. What’s worse, it’s packed. SO packed. 400 people in one big lecture hall. Something good is that our professor seemed to be enjoying having so many people and thus putting on some pretty good humor to entertain us while feeding us with thoughts like “o-chem is ez” or “do your practice problems 4 times.” Anyway, he’s a nice guy, so far, and we’ll see.

Finally I saw the UTA table on the library walk today. Went there, sign up, and we’ll see. Wonderful 1st day? O well… not bad.
